Correct Your Bad Habits for Guitarists

In this 5 part video course we are going to learn how to correct the 5 most common bad habits that guitarists pick up, often very quickly! These are mistakes I have seen time and time again over my 30 years of teaching. Firstly, below is an introduction video to give you an overview of what's to come.

Introduction

1. Correct Your Posture

Poor posture is very much caused by wanting to see where your fingers are on the strings clearly! So to develop a good posture we need to adapt to keeping the back of guitar against our body and looking through the strings at our left hand fingers rather than tipping the guitar and looking down on them. This will take at least a week of retraining, be patient with this one!

2. Correct Your Left Hand Position

This next point is variable as we all have different proportions in our fingers, thumb etc. Make sure you understand the end game of playing on your fingertips with ease of access to the fretboard. We all need to find our own sweet spot with this one.
